I was excited in February to attend the Valid 'Having A Say' Disability Conference and Expo in Geelong. It is Australia's largest inclusion conference of its kind. So many 'come and try' activities for people young and old of all abilities, as well as awesome workshops and talks covering topics from NDIS to inclusion and advocacy. It was the best inclusive conference I've ever been to and highly recommends it to others to attend, whether you are an NDIS participant with a support worker, a parent, a professional in the industry or a disability support worker, it's a must for up to date practices and knowledge, inclusion, innovation and even grants. There were dinners and even a Red Faces show. It was all fantastic. There is something for everyone. See some photos re my adventures below. Click here to see The Having A Say conference program I got to meet Martin Hoffman, CEO National Disability Insurance Agency after his talk at the conference. Inspiring!
With Kevin Stone, CEO Victorian Advocacy League for Individuals with Disability Kevin is responsible each year for putting on this awesome event. He has a heart of gold!
I met this great speaker, from Ydas - Youth Affairs Council Victoria - Youth Disability Advocacy Services. What an awesome talk he gave. I learnt so much that I can do even better! Love it!
